I drove down to Nashville last week (about 9-10 hours) because my friends Amelia White and Julie Christensen were having a combined record release show for their new albums. Julie’s is called “The Cardinal” and Amelia’s, “Home Sweet Hotel.”
I recorded their full sets, with pretty good sound from the house mix and the room itself. No effects other than a little parametric EQ. Here’s Amelia, who played first.
And here is Julie’s powerful set.
It was pouring rain in buckets when we all said goodbye after the show; by 6 am, Music City was covered in a thick blanket of wet snow. I drove 20 mph from Nashville to the state line, and then discovered that Kentucky was worse. First plow I saw was spun around the wrong way and stuck in the ditch.
By Louisville the snow had stopped, and by Cincinnati you’d think nothing had happened. I was home by nightfall.
