As fall quickly turns into winter, I’m taking some time to organize my video archives and do a little selective pruning of published videos on both YouTube and Vimeo.

Here’s a lovely piece just recorded. I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve heard a sad Christmas song — exactly the mood this overcommercialized season of manufactured cheer always puts me in. My old friend Rick Boler, an accomplished humor writer and playwright who lives in my hometown of Erie, PA, wrote this for a play that will open in February.

The song is sung by Katie Chriest, with Sheldon Peterson on guitar. It’s from the play “The Miserable Mrs. Head,” which opens in February at the PACA performing arts center. Rick’s previous credits include “The Bad Haircut.” which had two weekends of sold-out performances last year at PACA, and “Spooks: The Haunting of the Skowronski Sisters,” a long-running hit at the former Roadhouse Theater in the ’90s.

I also put together this video for my friend Peter Case’s successful Kickstarter campaign to hire a publicist for his new album “HWY 62.” We shot most of the footage in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area in September.

The album features guest appearances by Ben Harper on lead guitar, DJ Bonebrake on drums, and Jebin Bruni on keyboards. It’s a collection of somewhat topical songs on events in America today, including mass incarceration, homelessness and immigration.

Earlier this year, I recorded a lot of performances on the streets of Pittsburgh, as the city celebrated its first Make Music Day. This international celebration, which began in Paris, encourages musicians of all kinds and skill levels to set up outdoors and play. Here’s a very brief sample.

Make Music Day is held each year on the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.

Finally, here’s one of a series of original videos by the poet Bigg Wash. His gospel-influenced style sits somewhere on the border between speech and singing.

You can find other performances by Bigg Wash on my YouTube channel and in the documentary “The Trouble With Poets,” in which he plays a prominent role.

I’ve also grouped together some older YouTube videos on my archival channel. Some great live performances by Greg Garing, Stan Ridgway and others.

That’s all for now, folks.
