About two years ago, Irish-born singer-songwriter Mark Dignam — a father of two who lives in Pittsburgh — took his band, the House of Song, into Treelady Recording Studios together with a live audience primed to sing along. The result was Mark’s latest CD, “Re-Build,” which has gained critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

With my former student Doug Helmick on camera, I recorded the whole night and edited the footage to master audio tracks provided by Garrett Haines and Dave Hidek at Treelady. The hour-long performance is interspersed with short interview clips as Mark talks about the session, experiences that went into the songs, and his love of audience participation. It will air Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at 8 p.m. on WQLN, TV-54, Erie’s public broadcast station.

The program is available in closed captioned form to any public station in Pennsylvania. Contact Producer/Director Tom Weber or President/CEO Tom New at WQLN for details.
