Local TV news reporter Eva Mastromatteo paid us a visit the other day to record this segment about the movie business in our little corner of the world.

It’s been awhile since I posted an update here. These blogs get away from you if you let them, so here are some other tidbits:

• I’ll be spending a couple of days in Buffalo week after next, to gather some material for the Don’t Give Up Your Day Job project with bluesman Mark Winsick. Mark grew up with Peter Case playing in bands like Whaling Beamish and Pig Nation. Besides being a world-class musician, Mark has an unusual day job: he serves court papers on sometimes uncooperative defendants for lawyers in Erie County, New York.

• I’m going to Kansas City Feb. 18-23 for the annual Folk Alliance conference. I might take a plane, I might take a train, but I have so much video gear that I have to drive. I’ll be recording some of the bigger showcases in full 5.1 surround sound, and running a pop-up video studio in one of the rooms, where musicians can come and record demo videos for 25 bucks a song. Contact me for more info.

• I’m wrapping up editing on a full-length concert by The Dream Syndicate, the great “Paisley Underground” band that recently reunited for limited touring. Watch this space for details. For you touring bands who are interested in a unique item for your merch table, I can record your band in three-camera HD (two mobile and one fixed cameras) and stunning 5.1 surround sound for less than the cost of making a record. Distribution can be as a Blu-Ray disk or download — most of the streaming services don’t yet support surround audio. E-mail me for pricing and other information.

That’s it for now. We’ve had about a foot of snow today here in Erie, PA, to add to the foot of snow we had yesterday, so I had better get out there and shovel.
